Why are these two teams playing if its a FIFA international break?

  6. grandeTO9 says:

The other contenders would be Kenny Cooper and Henry in NY and Wondolowski/Gordon/Lenhart in San Jose. I would be obtuse if I did not mention the importance of Mauro Rosales in the success of Johnson and Montero this year.

  7. grandeTO9 says:

I was curious to know the answer to your question though. Montero and Johnson have both scored in 4 different matches during the 2012 regular season to date. Of Johnson’s current 13 goal tally, Montero has been credited with assisting 2 of them. Of Montero’s current 11 goal tally, Johnson has been credited with assisting 1. Arguably, the Montero/Johnson duo are as good as any other forward duo in the league.

  8. grandeTO9 says:

They do not necessarily have to score in the same match to be considered effective. One can create chances for the other by drawing away defenders (i.e. creating passing lanes), supplying crosses or through balls for the other, or by simply taking away the attention of defenses in order to open up opportunities for midfielders and outside backs who are pushing forward. In the end, it doesn’t matter if they are scoring together in the same game, but it does matter that both players are scoring.

@1969JohnnyM Yup, too bad it’s turf. But I understand that they won’t change it, since it’s the Seattle Seahawks football stadium.

That pass Montero hands to Johnson on the 2nd goal is fkn Amazing

Sounders looked great in this game! I know Chivas sucks, but still. Great runs behind the D, good attacking awareness. Loving this current team. Zakuani is only getting stronger!
