DCPA co-productions open in Seattle and San Diego – Seattle Videos

The DCPA Theatre Company recently presented two world-premiere plays as co-productions with other leading national theatre organizations: Lauren Yee’s ‘The Great Leap’ with Seattle Repertory Theatre, and José Cruz González’s ‘American Mariachi’ with the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. After each play’s run ended in Denver, the actors, creative teams and key crew members packed up along with the sets, props, costumes and design plans for their next chapters. By a great calendrical coincidence, both plays opened in their second cities on back-to-back nights, March 28 and 29, 2018. In its nearly 40-year history, the DCPA Theatre Company has only participated in two previous co-world premieres — ‘The Laramie Project’ in 1999-2000 and ‘Tantalus’ the next year. The DCPA NewsCenter went along to chronicle both openings. Go to the DCPA NewsCenter for a full report both in words and photos. Video by DCPA Senior Arts Journalist John Moore and Video Producer David Lenk for the DCPA NewsCenter. Special thanks to the Seattle Repertory Theatre and OId Globe Theatre.
