  6. That moment when Christian Vazquez (of all players) homers over the Little League right field porch and that run ends up being the deciding run of the game… Lol.

  9. Yankees fan here. Before other Yankees fans descend too much and immediately call for Boone's firing, here are some thing to bear in mind:

    1. His first season EVER as a manager, he gets 100 wins. Girardi, in his entire tenure with the Yankees, only hit triple-digit wins with us once, which was his first year with the club in 2009.
    2. In 2018, the team's overall ERA was 3.78. Only THREE times during Girardi's tenure was the ERA lower than that. It's only TWICE if you look at WHIP.
    2. A team that had some serious injury problems (Montgomery, Chapman, Judge was injured for a month, etc).
    3. Utter lack of productivity from some of its key stars for long stretches of time (Gregorius basically didn't hit for a month, Sanchez's abhorrent batting average and defensive deficiencies, Severino losing himself partway through the second half of the year, etc).
    4. Going up against a team that had 108 wins, a Herculean feat no matter how you slice it.

There is obviously room for improvement, and Boone is smart enough to know that he still has a lot to learn. In terms of consistency, we need more reliable starters. That being said, congratulations to the Red Sox on your ALDS win. See you next year!

  18. Sucks because i wanted the Yanks to go to the ALCS, because for my money they had a better chance beating the Astros there then the Sox do. Personally i think Boston is going to get broomed right into the off season in short order, but it would have been nice to see the Yanks vs Dodgers go to 7 games and have Machado come up in the bottom of the 9th against Britton and demolish one to take the Series. I'm an Orioles fan obviously as that was my dream scenario.
