Port Commissioner Ryan Calkins and Aviation Managing Director Lance Lyttle were honored this month to host Costa Rica President Carlos Alvarado Quesada and senior officials from Costa Rica, including the Foreign Trade Minister Dyalá Jimenez Figueres, the Costa Rican Ambassador for the United States Fernando Llorca, and Executive VP for Alaska Airlines Andrew Harrison.

The conversation touched on many priority issues and values shared by Costa Rica, the Pacific NW and the Port of Seattle, particularly how this small country wants to be a leader in addressing climate change, environmental sustainability, human talent development in high-tech education, eco-tourism, and equity and inclusion. Pura vida!
