    Lyrics:

The bluest skies you’ve ever seen in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green in Seattle
Like a beautiful child growing up free and wild
Full of hopes and full of fears
Full of laughter full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle
    In Seattle
When it’s time to leave your home and your loved ones
It’s the hardest thing a boy can ever do
And you pray that you will find
Someone warm and sweet and kind
But you’re not sure what’s waiting there for you
The bluest skies you’ve ever seen in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green in Seattle
Like a beautiful child growing up free and wild
Full of hopes and full of fears
Full of laughter full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle
    In Seattle
When you find your own true love
    You will know it
By her smile, by the look in her eye
Scent of pine trees in the air
Never knew a day so fair
It makes you feel so good
    That you could cry
The bluest skies you’ve ever seen in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green in Seattle
Like a beautiful child growing up free and wild
Full of hopes and full of fears
Full of laughter full of tears
Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle
    In Seattle

  11. Gertrude showed up to the show looking sick one day and JP said “you look bad” and she (he (Newman) replied “but I feel good” It was a reference to a dirty joke of the time. My dad told me they often had very adult subtext in that show.

  15. I was touring KIRO one Saturday with my Cub Scout pack. Friend Steve Thomas was a longtime sportscaster there. In the lobby when JP starts pounding on the entry door for someone to let him in. He was at an event at the Seattle Center and needed to use “the facilities”. The kids had no idea who JP was. He took a big bowl of apples from the table and asked the boys if they wanted one. Several boys grabbed an apple and started chomping away. JP immediately says in a serious voice ” Those apples are $5 each boys”. It was typical JP. The kids started putting partially eaten apples back in the bowl. All the parents knew JP and it was the highlight to see him. I watched him way past my childhood. He and Soupy Sales were the best.
