Officers Arrest Suspect In University District Robbery

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man in the University
District today after he attacked and tried to rob a man as he was leaving a pot

Just after 10 AM, the victim walked out of a marijuana shop
in the 1000 block of NE 45th Street and was approached by the suspect
and another man, who asked for some marijuana. The victim declined, but said he’d
give them a few dollars. He pulled out his wallet and gave the two men a small
amount of cash.

The victim then continued on his way, but soon felt someone
tugging at his wallet. As he turned around, the 18-year-old man punched him and
pushed him to the ground.

The suspect continued to punch and kick the victim as he lay
on the street and demanded his wallet.

A witness flagged down officers, who arrested the
18-year-old man and booked him into the King County Jail for robbery.
