We now know what Amazon’s mysterious “Project X” development along 15th Ave. between 51st and 52nd will be called: AmazonFresh Pickup. The facility will be a drive-thru to pick up groceries ordered on AmazonFresh.
GeekWire discovered these sketches from Amazon’s request for city signage permits, which were approved. The building will include a “Hello Ballard” sign, and an elevated AmazonFresh sign will be visible from the Ballard Bridge.
Amazon has kept quiet when asked about the development. AmazonFresh Pickup is a new concept — different from the Amazon Go automated store that opened downtown. Another AmazonFresh Pickup facility is under construction in SoDo. No word on when they’ll open.
Ballard has several supermarkets, especially if you count the upcoming addition of New Seasons Market on Ballard Way which is slated to open later this…
